  1. ConvertMachine 1.0.3

  3. This release fixes a slow memory leak in version 1.0.2.  Significant
  4. improvements are currently being built into version 1.1; and thanks
  5. for the useful feedback and suggestions.
  6.  
  7. This is the first release of ConvertMachine.  It is a fat binary
  8. meaning it runs on 68K machines and native on PPC machines.
  9. It is released as $10 Shareware and registering and payment
  10. can be made using email through Kagi Shareware. Different
  11. fees apply for company and site licenses; see the Register
  12. application.  Payment of the fee will cover all versions up to
  13. version 1.9 (some distant time in the future).

  15. It is mostly a batch processing utility to convert sound format files
  16. to a desired type.  This means it performs one or more of the
  17. following without user interaction: decompression, resampling
  18. (sample rate conversion), mixing (stereo to mono) and compression.

  20. You don't need to worry about what format the file is in; all you 
  21. specify is the desired output format.
  22.  
  23. Finder Sound files (sfil), AIFF files, WAVE files, AU Mu-law and linear
  24. and QuickTime Audio (Movies) can be freely converted.

  26. Manually you can import off Audio CDs into any of the above formats.

  28. You can save your popular Settings under as a menu item or as a
  29. separate Settings file.  The common web formats are flagged and 
  30. ready to use as defaults, such as audio/basic mono 8kHz mu-law.

  32. After conversion files can be automatically sent to SoundMachine
  33. for playing.

  35. It needs QuickTime 2.1 and Apple's Sound Manager 3.1 or later.
  36. If you have installed System 7.5.3 then, no worries, you have these.
